CDL Class B qualifies you to drive straight trucks, box trucks, dump trucks, and certain buses. It is a strong career path with steady local work and shorter routes. At Mid-City, we focus on air brake mastery and hands-on straight truck experience.
Class B licenses cover single vehicles with a GVWR of 26,001 pounds or more, or vehicles towing something under 10,000 pounds. This includes many city and local delivery jobs, school buses, and municipal trucks.
Class B requires two written tests: General Knowledge (30 questions, max 6 mistakes) and Air Brakes (25 questions, max 5 mistakes). There is no Combination Vehicles test for Class B.
Understanding air brakes is essential for Class B. Our instructors explain the system clearly and test you until you are confident. This is one of the most important skills you will develop.
You will train on real straight trucks in our yard and on public roads. Backing, turning in tight spaces, and navigating urban routes are all part of the program.
Class B drivers work in local delivery, municipal services, construction, and more. These jobs offer steady hours, local routes, and strong pay โ perfect for drivers who want to be home every night.
Local routes. Steady income. We train you for all of it.
